Staff and children in our Early Years Department are celebrating after it was described as ‘outstanding’ by school inspectors.
Our Bright Sparks Nursery received the highest-possible grading in all four key assessment areas from Ofsted inspectors reviewing its provision for 0-2 year olds.
These key areas include the quality of the nursery’s teaching, learning and assessment, and also the effectiveness of its leadership and management.
Inspectors also assess pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare, as well as the overall outcomes for children.
This latest Ofsted success follows hot on the heels of an equally impressive inspection result from the Independent Schools Inspectorate, who gave their highest possible grading of ‘excellent’ to all other age groups at St. Mary’s, including the 2-4 year olds at Bright Sparks, earlier this month.
In their report the Ofsted inspectors describe the environment, resources and activities at Bright Sparks as ‘incredible’, and say that staff are extremely dedicated and show an ‘exceptional knowledge of child development and how babies and young children learn’.
The quality of teaching is described as ‘excellent’, which the inspectors say helps to make children deeply involved in activities, curious, confident and extremely motivated to learn.
The inspectors describe leadership at the nursery as being ‘inspiring and inspirational’, and they also stress that staff are extremely vigilant about the supervision of children, and ensuring they are safe in their care.
According to Ofsted, life at the nursery is enhanced by the close bonds between staff and pupils, and by the way the children develop exceptional social skills, play harmoniously together and behave extremely well.
The overall verdict is that ‘all children make excellent progress, and acquire an abundance of skills that will support them in their future learning’.
Commenting on the report Bright Sparks Head of Early Years, Alice Haigh, said: “Everyone here is delighted that we have been given this independent seal of approval by Ofsted.
“The outstanding rating shows that the inspectors have recognised the success of our efforts to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for the children, and to foster positive learning habits for the future.
“I would like to congratulate all my staff who have made this outstanding result possible, and thank all our children and their families for their ongoing support.”
