Leading academic visits St. Mary's to discuss EU Referendum

We were delighted to welcome Dr Stuart Wilks-Heeg, Head of Politics at the University of Liverpool to St. Mary's on Wednesday 20th April.

Dr Wilks-Heeg captivated our Y11 and Sixth Form students with a fascinating, unbiased presentation about the forthcoming 'in or out' EU Referendum, which was followed by a Q & A and discussion with students.

Stuart is recognised as a leading expert on the UK democratic process, particularly with regard to issues associated with the mechanics of the electoral process. He frequently provides UK political commentary and analysis for newspapers and broadcasters regionally, nationally and internationally.

Stuart's willingness to share his knowledge and insights about the complex issues surrounding a possible 'Brexit' was greatly appreciated by our students, especially those in the Upper Sixth who will be able to vote in the EU Referendum on 23rd June.
