A group of thirteen students have been spending Easter week in Lourdes as part of the HCPT annual pilgrimage to the pyrenean shrine of Our Lady.
Led by Head of Sixth Form, Carole Killen, and along with former teachers, Karen Lane and Daniel Magill, Sixth Formers have been assisting various groups from the Merseyside Region both in their hotels and at the services. They have also been accompanying them on organised outings and walked with them in the Torchlight Procession, which this year was followed by a fireworks spectacular to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the HCPT movement.
In Lourdes with the group was Liverpool's Bishop Tom Williams, who is the Episcopal Liaison for HCPT with the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales. The Trust Mass on Thursday morning, in the huge underground Basilica of Pius X, where Cardinal Vincent Nichols was the main celebrant, was one of the many highlights of the week.
After the ceremony Cardinal Nichols, a former pupil of St. Mary's, was delighted to meet up and chat with the Sixth Formers and the accompanying staff.
