Admissions

St. Mary’s College Preparatory School welcomes boys and girls of all faiths between the ages of 4 and 11 years and pupils can enrol at the school at any age.

The majority of pupils tend to join the school in September but we are usually able to consider entry throughout the year, provided places are available in the relevant year group.

Initial contact from prospective parents is often made as a result of word of mouth and reputation, or advertising and open events. We ask you to call the school on 0151 924 6302 or to email from this website to arrange an appointment for a personal tour of the school, which is usually given by the Headmaster, Mr Webster. The visit will give you a much richer sense of our values and approaches to education and learning as well as getting a feel for the school itself. You will have the opportunity to meet teachers and pupils and to discuss your own child’s education.

Admission is subject to an assessment which will be used to confirm that the school appears to be able to meet a pupil’s needs. Your child will be invited to spend a day (or half-day) with their peers and following discussion with the class teacher, the Headmaster will discuss his or her performance with you. If a place is offered, this is conditional to a satisfactory report from your child’s current school and if they are transferring from another independent school, ensuring that parents have fulfilled all their contractual obligations. The Headmaster confirms all decisions in writing and sends a contract to parents to be signed and returned.

Application forms can be obtained from the school office or downloaded via the links below. To apply for a place at St. Mary’s Prep, or to register for our Pre-Prep sessions, please complete and return the relevant application form(s), together with a copy of your child’s most recent school report if applicable.
