Netball, Hockey and Rounders

Netball skills are taught in all years throughout St. Mary's College Preparatory School with the focus in the Infants on hand eye co-ordinations and spatial awareness moving through to the more intricate parts of the game in the Junior year groups. The netball squad is made up of children from Years 4- 6 and the team is selected on ability.

We are proud to say that St. Mary's College Preparatory School netball team are the current Chrsitian Brothers' Schools U11 Champions. The children play a number of fixtures throughout the year and these competitive games instil team spirit, confidence and skill development.

As well as being taught in all years in PE lessons there is also an hour long netball club every Monday which any children from Years 4, 5 and 6 can attend. There are also practice sessions held by the netball coaches at different times during the year. The children are actively encouraged to take part in these as it is development for the squad and an opportunity for the younger players to train with the older children and see what they should aspire to.

The pupils start playing hockey in Year 3 using the training facilities at Northern Hockey Club and enter competitions from Year 4. We are currntly the Chrsitian Brothers' Schools U9 Champions.
