The Mount Show Choir enjoyed a double success in the recent Wirral Festival of Music, Speech and Drama winning two first prizes with distinction. The Choir made up of pupils from Reception through to Year 6 were presented with the performing Arts Junior Cup for their version of two songs from the hit musical 'Matilda' - When I grow Up and School Song.
In the second category they entered, the Choir sang the set piece, Take these Wings and When you Believe and were again placed first, collecting the Junior Choir Shield. The adjudicator praised the children for 'producing a lovely sound that engaged your audience.' It was the first competition the Show Choir have entered so to come away with first prizes was a wonderful achievement.
The pupils were fantastic ambassadors for The Mount and performed brilliantly in one of the region's most pretigious music competitions. It was wonderful to see so many parents supporting the Show Choir on the day.
There was also success for Year 2 pupil, Luke Pomeroy, whose mother, Dr Jane Belfield is the accompanist for the Show Choir. Luke came first in the Solo Piano Class for 8 years and under, playing set piece Piper in the Forest and third in Solo Piano Class for 8 years and under (own choice music) where he played At A Dude Ranch.
