Weekend results

Unfortunately the under 12 & 1st XI home games were cancelled due to unfit home pitches. However, the under 13, 14 & 15 games all went ahead at Birkenhead School.

The under 13s came from behind to win 40-30.

The under 14s lost 17-0

The under 15s won 31-12.

Congratulations to Joe McLelland, Louis Vidamour, Alfie Mutch and Harry Murphy who all played for Lancashire against Yorkshire at the weekend and have now all received their County ties.

There are no games this weekend but after that we have two matches on the 28th January and 4th February against St. Edward’s College and Bury GS respectively.

Tomorrow, the Under 15s visit Lancaster RGS in the Lancashire Cup. It is a 230 kick off and the venue is:

Memorial Fields

Derwent Road

We anticipate a 6-6:30pm return.

Last week the under 15s lost 3-0 to Maricourt and the 1st XV lost 2-1 to Sedbergh. Today, the 1st XI play Shrewsbury away (6:30pm return approx.). The 2nd XI play Birkenhead School at home and will be finished in time for the buses.

Rugby next year

This year has seen a tremendous increase in playing standard of all of the teams. We are looking to improve the teams again next year as we are upgrading the fixture list to play a higher level of fixtures. If you are a qualified coach and are willing to help on a Saturday morning, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at The process of ‘Police Clearance’ takes a while so it is best to get the ball rolling on this as soon as possible in time for September.

Rugby Tour

The Portugal Tour meeting is Thursday 2nd February at 6pm in the Library. Please ensure that EHIC cards are ordered online well in advance of the trip (they take around 7 days to arrive).

Golf Day

A flyer will soon be on its way for the Annual Golf Day at Hurlston Hall on Friday 28th April. All involved had a fabulous time last year; it really is a great day so please get involved.

Byrnes Fish & Chips

A massive thank you to Mr Dickson, owner of Byrnes Fish & Chips for sponsoring the Under 15 Portugal Rugby Kit. A wonderful gesture has enabled us to ensure that all pupils will be wearing the new Kukri kits. There are many opportunities for sponsorship in the Sports Department. If you are interested, please get in touch at for football and for rugby and cricket.

Kind regards, Boys PE
