On Saturday 11th November, the St. Mary’s community and wider community gathered together to walk around all of Euan’s favourite places. Euan’s parents, Sian and Michael, and his sister Megan organised the sponsored walk to remember and celebrate Euan and his love for life, and to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young. ‘Euan’s Walk’ started at Hightown Cricket Club and finished at Waterloo Rugby Club, stopping off at the St. Mary’s College Games Field in between.
Euan McNamara’s mum Sian shared this message from the day:
Michael, Meg and I wanted to express our deepest gratitude to the staff, pupils and community of St. Mary’s College for the support given on Saturday as we came together for ‘Euan’s Walk’. It was an emotional day but together we have raised awareness about Cardiac Risk, the important work of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young and funding to support a screening event.
We would like to say a big thank you to the team who were waiting at the school’s games field, Mr Armstrong for helping to organise the day, Michelle and Jane for refuelling the walkers, the cakes and hotdogs went down a treat. We are grateful to all the St. Mary’s staff who gave their time to support us.
The number of walkers was both comforting to us as a family and a wonderful tribute to Euan, he even sent the sunshine.
The target we set has far exceeded our initial ambitions thanks to the generosity of the community. Euan’s memorial fund stands at over £18,500. We know that Euan would be so proud and smiling at this achievement.
Thank you everyone.
With love,
Sian, Michael & Meg
