We are thrilled to have such a high volume of successful Table Tennis players representing St. Mary’s in the sport. We recently had three pupils compete in the National Schools Individual tournament at Wolverhampton in April.
St. Mary’s Prep pupil – Nyasha Roberts
Nyasha is now 10 and has been the Merseyside champion at U11 twice this year aged 10 and last year aged 9. She is attending a Future Stars selection in May and currently has several tournaments around the country. She plays in the National Cadet League. Most recently, she won the U11 girls competition in Scarborough and was runner up of the U13 girls. We are waiting for the new rankings list but anticipate she will feature in the top 20 in the country at Under 11.
St. Mary’s College pupil – Isabella Hamer
Isabella is a current County player representing Lancashire in the Cadet Team (U15) and played for her county in the last 2 years. She has previously played in the U11 and U13 age categories, having become Merseyside champion in these ages. Isabella has represented the North West region at the Inter Regional finals too.
St. Mary’s College pupil – Luke Govier
Luke played for Lancashire for the last 2 years in the Cadet Team (U15). He was the Merseyside boys champion at U11 and U13 and played in the National individual finals at U13. The U11 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Luke was a member of the College U16 boys’ team who reached the National finals last year and has been part of the winning team National Cadet League.
St. Mary’s College pupil – Oscar Wilson
Oscar competed at the Merseyside Schools Individual Tournament earlier this year and reached the quarter-finals in the U16 Boys. He was also part of the Under 19 Boys Table Tennis team who competed in the Regional Finals and made it to the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on winning.
St. Mary’s College pupil – Luke Pomeroy
Luke was a member of the U16 boys team who came 4th in the National School finals last year. He also plays in the National Junior League and regularly for his local club.
St. Mary’s College pupil – Louie Cooper
Louie was the Lancashire player last year for the Junior team (under 19) and member of the U16 boys team who reached the National finals and finished 4th last year.
St. Mary’s College Sixth Form pupil – Jack Savage

Jack is in the U19 boys’ individual finals this year, he has previously represented Merseyside three times and played in the finals at Under 11 (when at the Prep), Under 13 and now Under 19. The Under 16 was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic therefore has been the Merseyside champion for all of his age groups.
