Altcar Half Term CCF Camp

The half term camp at Altcar, was very well attended and we were assisted by members of 4th battalion the Parachute regiment. They took the senior cadets through a wide range of skills, notably TIBUA (or Tactics In Built Up Areas).

St. Mary's teacher to address international conference

St. Mary's College Latin teacher Dr James Thorne has been invited to speak at a prestigious international classics conference in the summer. He will address the International Ancient Warfare Conference 2015, which takes place at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth from June 29th until July 2nd. Dr Thorne is an internationally respected expert on ancient warfare and one of the foremost authorities on Julius Caesar's campaigns in Gaul.

National recognition for Joshua's invention

An invention by a pupil from St. Mary’s College has landed one of the top prizes in the country’s leading science competition for young people. 14-year-old Josh Quinlan, who lives in Southport, finished runner-up in the junior engineering and technology section of the National Science and Engineering Competition with his RaspberryMAGNIFY digital magnifier.
