The children and staff all looked fantastic in their book character costumes for World Book Day this year!
We enjoyed a day full of book reading, including a reading from special visitors from St. Mary’s College. The children were visited by the Teacher of RE, Ms Engelbrecht whilst dressed up as Peter Pan she read lots of stories to the children including Paddington Bear to a Paddington Bear. We also had the pleasure of Ms Howard, the College Librarian, read ‘Shh we have a plan’ to the children, and the children enjoyed re-enacting the actions in the book! Other visitors such as Teacher of Classics, Mrs Moore, read ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ to the children and left some Tiger food with the children just in case they received any Tiger visitors. Mr Byers, Director of Music also read Sam’s Sandwich to the children as they explored all of the not-so-nice things in Sam’s sandwich
As well as having Teachers from the College join us during the week, we were also spoilt by family members of the children such as mum’s and grandma’s join us to read to the little ones. It was so much fun welcoming new and familiar faces through the doors to read their favourite books to the children as they shared their joy of reading with them.
A big thank you to all of our special visitors who joined us during the week of World Book Day to read a story to us. It was a very special week!
