The idea of a whole-school nativity seemed improbable at the start of this academic year with all of the usual components that make up the annual Christmas performance in doubt. With no live audience, the need to remain in class ‘bubbles’ and a ban on whole-class singing, which forms the backbone of any nativity, the planning would indeed prove challenging.
Our school production embodies the qualities of flexibility, resourcefulness and creativity… and that is just from the staff! We do hope that, against the odds, our 2020 virtual nativity might be an even more memorable and uplifting experience for all concerned.
The ‘Magical Christmas Jigsaw’ was adapted especially for individual classes. It offered the flexibility for each group to rehearse and perform separately and yet feel the sense of being part of a whole-school community working together to achieve the same goal.
Our virtual nativity was filmed and edited at MSP Global and we would like to thank everyone at MSP for their professionalism and creativity as they helped us put this production together.
We would like to congratulate every single child in the school for helping to retell our nativity story; for learning their lines, developing new skills in performance poetry and generally performing with such panache! It has been, for us all, a magical way to end 2020.
You can watch our 2020 virtual nativity below. Please feel free to share with family and friends, far and wide. For families that cannot be together this Christmas, we hope our nativity film may help provide a point of contact for all to enjoy even if apart.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy 2021.
