St. Mary’s Preparatory School pupils represented Merseyside in the Under 11 Girls and Boys age category at the Table Tennis Regional Quarter Finals competition at Blackburn on Sunday 12th January 2025.
The school was very fortunate to have two teams play and represent Merseyside in the Under 11 Boys category. Each team won their matches beating Silverdale and St. Bede’s comprehensively, resulting in a final match between Team A and Team B, with the Team A being the eventual winners!
The Under 11 Girls team, comprising Emelia, Priscilla and Nyasha played St. Bede’s School and after some tough singles matches, they clinched a victory with a double’s win.
Both teams will now represent the North West and will compete at Grantham in March 2025 for the National Semi-Finals, with the aim to qualify for a place in the National Finals in April later this year.
Mrs Savage and Dave Graham who coach the children at St. Mary’s Preparatory School said: “We were extremely proud of all the children, not just for the way they played but for their sportsmanship and how they handled both victory and defeat. They are wonderful role models and ambassadors for the school.”
