Why attend an Open Event?

Open events are a great way to find out whether a school is right for you and your child. Attending an open event will help you get a feel for the school, chat with pupils and staff, and find out more about the school’s ethos and values as well as the learning and development opportunities on offer.
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. After all, school is where your child will spend most of their time during childhood. Deciding where your child spends that time will have a significant impact on their life socially, academically and personally. The right school will help your child to learn, develop, grow and connect with people.
We encourage families to view lots of schools (including ours!) so you can compare and contrast. Take the time to research the differences between them and discover the school that is right for you. Find one that covers the key aspects you want for your child and their education. It’s important that your child ends up at the school that’s right for them.
An open event allows you to get a real sense of the school’s ethos and atmosphere. You get to meet the teachers your children will be taught by, speak to the pupils who are at the school now, and see the environment and facilities that will shape your child’s learning experience. Ask lots of questions and ask yourself if the pupils you meet are the kind of person you would like your child to turn into. Our pupils are proud of their school and love showing visitors around… They are also really honest!
When you first visit a school you will get a sense straight away of how the atmosphere and people make you feel. You get the opportunity to see your child in that environment, how they interact with the teachers and respond to the school.
Similar to how you would make any big decision, make sure you do your research to help you make the right choice for you and your child. Whilst we recommend attending an open event, we also welcome and encourage people visiting us for a tour of the school on a normal working day, which is an excellent way to get a feel for school life.
