At St. Mary’s College Preparatory School, academic excellence comes as standard.
Academic results are a key priority and something we consider non-negotiable. The academic progress of all pupils is monitored as they move through the school. In Reception the children take a Baseline assessment within the first 2-4 weeks and then take a Baseline Progress test at the end of the year. This, along with the tracking of their Development Matters Profile informs our planning as the children move in to Year 1.
From Year 1 onwards the children are assessed three times a year in mathematics, reading and writing. These tests are used to create a pupil profile for every child and their standardised scores are tracked, analysed and targets set. This is a rigorous process that ensures the best chance of success for the child.
We are proud to say that the vast majority of our pupils consistently achieve at or above the expected level in the key areas of English and Maths.
