Friends of St. Mary’s
The Friends of St. Mary’s organisation was established in 2007 as the successor to the school’s previous alumni organisation, St. Mary’s Old Boys.
Its aim is to keep former pupils, parents, staff and governors connected with the school, and with each other, for social, career and business purposes.
The school’s alumni include famous names from many walks of life such as Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Vincent Nichols, poet Roger McGough, Olympic swimmer Fran Halsall and Liverpool FC and England footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Key objectives of the Friends of St. Mary’s include:
- Social activities – providing opportunities for members of the St. Mary’s community to meet each other in person and online. The organisation’s website and social media platforms inform and connect alumni. The organisation also organises regular reunion dinners in Liverpool and London as well as other social events.
- Career development – members of the Friends of St. Mary’s are encouraged to provide departing pupils, undergraduates, graduates and those in job transition with access to informal advice, guidance and support whenever they need it. This can include work experience, mentorship and even long-term employment opportunities.
- Business opportunities – the Friends organisation is working to establish a business network that will enable St. Mary’s alumni to connect with each other to explore, establish and benefit from joint business opportunities.
- Fundraising – Friends of St. Mary’s also provides a focus for fundraising activities to support the long-term development of the school and benefit current and future pupils.
